🔥Uber transforms into a super-app

I told you about it a few months ago, Uber was working on a project to redesign its application to centralize all the services it offers:

  • 🚖 VTC
  • 🚲 Bike
  • 🥙 Meals
  • 🛒 Shopping…

Becoming a super apps is a bit like the ultimate dream for Silicon Valley startups as we explain to you in the podcast below 👇

The reason why I'm telling you about this again is that this famous update is now available and it's really well done!

It was especially the services tab that gave me a little slap in the face because that's where you realize to what extent Uber addresses increasingly broad needs (pharmacies, florists, bicycles, public transport and even travel).

Personally I started by uninstalling Uber Eats and Lime because these applications are completely integrated into the new version.

🥱 Spotify also launches its AI

Did your music player need AI?

Spotify has just announced a new feature called DJ, which uses AI to provide you with a personalized music selection accompanied by comments on the songs and artists. The DJ uses Spotify's personalization technology, generative AI (from the sonantic acquisition in 2022) and a dynamic AI voice platform to create a personalized listening experience.

I'm having trouble seeing for the moment what this brings compared to the existing algorithm (apart from a little context on the songs you listen to).

We'll talk about it again as soon as it comes out in France because the functionality is currently available in English for Spotify Premium users in the United States and Canada.

In any case, it gives a bit of the impression that Spotify is rushing to ride the wave of mobile-based applications. of AI while there are much more anticipated announcements for a music service (like Hifi Lossless quality) that we expect even more 2 years after their announcement.

👀 Ask an AI to make your PowerPoint prez!

I see a lot of people worrying about the progress of AI and the millions of jobs that it could destroy.

But I'm starting to think that like any innovation it is the use we make of it that will make it an opportunity or a threat.

This is what I said during my recent appearance on the Bal Digital show about ChatGPT.

All this to say if tomorrow, an AI rids us of the PowerPoint chore it has my full attention.

This is precisely what this chrome extension shared by Quentin, a reader of the first, offers. time.

MagicSlides is an extension for Google Slide that allows you to generate a presentation using GPT.

How it works ?

  1. We describe the subject of the presentation
  2. We give context or details
  3. We indicate the number of slides

And bam! Your PowerPoint is generated!

I did a test by asking it to make presentation on the importance of digital accessibility in a website project and the result is frankly not bad.

So yes it's quite crude in terms of form but nothing prevents you from integrating your template or even asking it to generate unique illustrations via an image generator.

😕 In the skin of a dyslexic

So no, I'm not dyslexic but like a lot of people I think I've come across people who were without understanding what that really entailed.

And the reason why I'm talking to you about this in this newsletter is that the YouTube channel Dyslexia Improvement had the good idea of making a very educational video which simulates what a dyslexic person perceives when faced with a text.

And the least we can say is that it's a real hell that requires increased concentration and must be exhausting very quickly.

Watching this video does not make me a specialist and there are certainly other aspects of these disorders but it makes things much more complete for me and I hope that it has also taught you something.
