#111 - Create a form or website using AI

Greg Taieb · · 6 min read

Hello,

This week's news is still driven by the progress of generative AI but I also have some very nice little information to share with you.

Here we go!

✨ ChatGPT disappoints with its iPhone app
📺 How advertising is making a comeback on TV
🖋️Creating a form or a site via AI has never been so easy
🎂 Birthday of the week

✨Finally an official app for ChatGPT

As incredible as it may seem, there was no mobile application for ChatGPT yet. Although I quickly resolved the problem by adding a shortcut to my iPhone home screen, many less informed people found themselves installing unofficial and often paid third-party applications.
This app should set things straight and could well be one of the most downloaded from the appstore in the weeks to come.

On the menu of new features we note the possibility of making requests using voice dictation and the synchronization of the history of conversations between web and mobile.
2 limitations all the same:

  • The experience is quite poor in terms of UX: we are on a minimum adaptation of the website whereas we could have imagined an approach even closer to the assistant on mobile (with a voice and a personality like Siri or Google Assistant).
  • The limited availability of the application: only available on iOS in the US for the moment

Fortunately (or not) there is no shortage of good ideas for reconciling PUB and TV. I thus noted this week 2 initiatives that go in the same direction: putting more advertising on TV.

  • Telly, a new American company offers a 55-inch 4k TV for an unbeatable price: $0!

    How is this possible?

Their TV has a second screen (located under the first) which constantly displays advertising. For this price you also have to accept that the TV is equipped with a camera (for Zoom and tracking in fitness applications) and a microphone. The inventor of Telly is not his first attempt since we owe him Pluto TV, the only free streaming service to have more or less succeeded in the game.
  • If you prefer to consume streaming services on your good old TV, you risk grinding your teeth in the coming months by using YouTube.

Indeed Google has just announced an incompressible 30-second advertising format when you watch Youtube on TV (without Premium subscription). And even worse, you'll get ads if you have the misfortune of clicking pause.

🎧 Podcast: how France wants to regulate the Internet

The French government wants to “regulate and secure the digital space”! This very ambitious upcoming law intends to make the Internet a more peaceful area than today.

Anti-scam filter, ban for cyber-harassment, age verification on social networks or even portability of company data on the cloud. The subjects are varied and mainly target large foreign companies (GAFAM!).

If some on Twitter were quick to denounce with derision the “maginotesque” position of its announcements, some of them could well help us to be more calm on the web.

We tell you all about this in the last episode of our Podcast.

📱Create a form or a website using an AI

Every week I see new applications that push the limits of what we thought generative AI was capable of doing. This week I tested 2 applications that particularly impressed me.

Forms.app : As its name suggests, this application generates a complete web form for you from a simple request. I did some tests such as generating a form for the readers of my tech newsletter in 5 questions and see what it gave me. It's just crazy.

Of course you can then edit your questions, add more and even change the design of the form.

forms.app AI: The Best Assistant for AI-Powered Forms
forms.app AI is an amazing AI assistant for creating online forms with a simple prompt. Visit here to experience it now.

The other nugget that amazed me is Pineapple, a website builder which allows you to generate a functional website in a few minutes from instructions given to an AI.

In the example below I asked to create the site of a barbershop on which you can make appointments.

Link to the generated site

The tool generated the site, the images (not crazy I admit) and the main sections. Then you can complete it via the integrated editor like here by asking to cite 4 benefits of my product.

So yes it's not completely perfect but we can see how in a few months entire sites will be generated via simple prompts.

🎉 The Streisand effect celebrates its 20th anniversary

20 years ago Barbara Streisand sued a photographer who had published a photo of the Californian coast showing his superb villa.

No one cared except Barbara Streisand who decided to attack the photographer to prohibit the distribution of the photo.

Lack of luck, that's precisely what gave maximum visibility to this photo which went in a few days from 6 views (half of which by Streisand and her lawyers) to several million.

A textbook case which reminds us that by wanting to hide something we are often more likely to encourage its exposure.
