Hello,

69 editions of this newsletter and I still have things to tell you every week. Worse, I'm taking a little away so as not to drown you 🀿.

Last week you gave the newsletter a rating of 4.8/5 and you obviously really liked the avalanche of figures on the apps mobiles.

This week we have a nice variety of topics and as usual don't forget to say what you think about it think.

On the menu this week:

  • πŸ‘Ÿ The underside of Nike's incredible 3D ad
  • πŸ’» Edge: Microsoft's revenge
  • πŸ“… Your calendar will thank me
  • πŸŽ™οΈThe podcast of the week - Rise the application that will help you do better sleep

πŸ‘Ÿ The underside of Nike's incredible 3D ad

If there is one communication medium that has often amazed me in recent years, it is the giant screens that we find on certain buildings in Japan and which display you an animation in 3D.

Latest example, the incredible Nike ad published on March 26 for Air Max Day.

For the 35th anniversary of the invention of the Nike Air, Nike squatted the Shinjuku Station which usually houses a giant cat (yes I put the link because I know you wanted to see that).

The ad was produced by Nike's creative studio in Tokyo and creative agency CEKAI. The idea emerged at the end of 2021 and took 2 months to be realized (creation, programming and testing).

The idea of making the famous cat appear very quickly became obvious as it became an emblem seen every day by 200,000 people.

A real cardboard box that went viral, the proof, I'm telling you about it here πŸ˜‰.

πŸ’» Edge: Microsoft's revenge

An incredible thing happened in March 2022: Microsoft Edge is become the 2nd most used browser on desktop behind Chrome. A ranking that seemed utopian in recent years as Microsoft's browser was in an outsider position behind Chrome and Firefox.

Why it's important

Once the undisputed king of browsers (with IE), Microsoft began a real descent into hell following the arrival of Firefox and especially Chrome.

Evolution of desktop browsers since 2009

We will have to wait for the launch of Edge to see the situation improve until March 2022 when Edge passes Safari (because yes, the Mac browser ahead of Firefox now).

A success which can be explained by several reasons:

  • Edge is a good browser (especially since its switch to chromium in 2020)
  • Windows 11 forces the opening of certain links on Edge

To put it into perspective nonetheless

This result should still be put into perspective for several reasons:

  • Chrome remains the undisputed market leader
  • The gap between Edge and Safari is close to zero (even if the trend is clearly to Microsoft's advantage)
  • These figures only reflect the desktop, on mobile Safari is 2nd with 25% of the market (still behind Chrome) and the 3rd (Samsung) is struggling to capture 5%.

πŸ“… Your agenda will say thank you

Along with email, the diary is an essential building block of our working days.

Yet we must recognize it: it has remained very stupid the agenda since its invention.

You must have noticed this the last time you tried to set up a meeting with more than 2 people.

Here's what usually happens:

Yet alternatives exist and in recent weeks with surprising coincidence announcements have multiplied from various players :

  • Doodle the pioneer offers himself a big facelift and also offers an appointment page (like Calendly) and an option for β€œ1 on 1” meetings.
  • Boomerang a brilliant extension for Gmail allows you to insert available slots directly into the email thanks to its β€œbookable schedule” functionality.

You will have understood, the next big thing for calendar applications is from us give everyone the superpower that Doctolib gave to doctors.

Simplify making appointments by dynamically sharing the status of your calendar.

I personally dream of it but not sure that the IT departments of large groups are moving forward as quickly as I want on the subject 😴.

πŸŽ™οΈThe podcast of the week - Rise the application that will help you sleep better

Every week I share with you the latest episode of Encore Un Podcast Tech. But this week I'm going to move quickly because we're discussing at length a subject that I've already covered here: the application Rise.

It's one of my favorites of the year and it has had a huge impact on me, that's why we're talking about it again with Remi.

So it's very simple, if you're fed up, you skip it, if you missed the newsletter where I'm talking about it or you want to know more, it's here πŸ‘‡.
