Digiposte: Your new electronic safe

Today I'm offering you a somewhat special newsletter like I sometimes do to tell you about an application...yes, just one application.

Because sometimes you have to leave room for important subjects and I know that anyone who reads this newsletter may be concerned by this subject.

This subject is paperwork! How we digitized it, how we organize it and how we find it.

And the actor who provided the best solution to this problem is not one of Gafam but a company that may surprise you: La Poste!

What is Digiposte?

Everything is now digitized : your invoices, your bank statements, your health papers, your taxes 🥹,...

You certainly receive, like me, some of these documents in paper format by mail and the rest in your mailbox or on the websites of the different services you use.

In short, it's a mess.

And if I told you that it was possible to have all these documents in the same place that can be downloaded and stored by themselves ?

To be able to find them and consult them even offline?

Well that's exactly what Digiposte offers.

This application available on the web but also on iOS and Android will become your new safe.

How does it work?

Digiposte is a virtual safe, in other words a secure space that will store all your important documents.

Good Of course you can already do this by downloading them to your computer and classifying them in folders or loading them onto a Google drive or Dropbox.

Except that this involves manual and above all regular actions. Indeed, you need a certain rigor to load your EDF bill every month or your Amazon bill for each purchase... I would even say that you have to be crazy to systematize that.

That's where the genius of the application Digiposte lies. Rather than going to retrieve each document manually, Digiposte will do it for you each time a new document is available.

Concretely, you have to connect the services that interest you once and give Digiposteauthorization to access them for you.

The services are divided into different categories:

  • Purchases: all types of businesses
  • Finances: banks, insurance and taxes
  • Housing: rent, water, gas, internet...
  • Health: social security, mutual insurance, etc.
  • Transport: train, plane, tolls,...
  • Work: via services such as Mypeopledoc
  • Family

There are truly hundreds of services available and clearly a large part of those I use the most.

Small presentation video 👇

Once each service is connected, it works in the background to retrieve the corresponding documents by storing them in the correct folders. Magic!

Really ALL my documents?

As you can imagine Digiposte does not allow you to connect to 100% of the documents and services you use. For example, the list of services is still mainly French (it's still the post office).

Fortunately it is possible to add files, scan documents and even organize this in folders to complete your safe.

So you can really store all your important documents in the safe.

Why does La Poste offer you this application?

We could At first glance, one wonders what the post office is doing in the field of cloud storage and yet when we think about it we understand that this actor has complete legitimacy on the subject.

On the one hand because it is a public service and the data is entirely stored in France on the post office's servers. And given what you put in the safe, quite happy to avoid GAFAM.

But above all, the post office is historically the actor who delivers you important documents, those that you store in filing cabinets and that you struggle to put away when the pile becomes too high in your entryway cabinet 🤫). As the post office is also responsible for receiving and storing these same documents in digital format, it is rather consistent. It's even obvious if you ask me.

Really relevant use cases

Having all your documents in the same place allows you to imagine ultra-relevant use cases that really make life easier.

If you've already made a file for an apartment (rental or loan) you know that you are asked for a bunch of supporting documents (account statement, tax notice, pay slip, etc.). But if all these coins are already in your safe it becomes possible to group them and that is exactly what Digiposte offers.

Concretely, you can start a process directly from the application which allows you to gather the parts you need by going directly to get them from your safe and then generating an ephemeral link to send it to an organization.

It's very well done!

What about security?

I see you coming from here, now that I have presented you with all the good reasons to test Digiposte, you are logically wondering if all this is secure.

And you have reason.

In fact, putting all your important documents (taxes, pay slips, etc.) in the same place on a cloud, is that secure?

Already your documents are stored on a 100% French cloud belonging to the Post Office. Then you can activate two-factor authentication to secure your connection. Finally, hosting is guaranteed for life and given that the post office still manages the mailboxes set up around twenty years ago, I tend to believe their ability to last over time.

How much does it cost?

The good news is that we are with the post office and therefore part of the service is free at life.

Concretely, you have a limit on the number of organizations that you can connect (5 in the free version). If you want to connect more services, you must activate the option at €3.99/month.

In short, you will have understood, I highly recommend this application. Whether it's the free or paid plan depending on your needs, it's very reassuring to gather all the important documents from a trusted provider.
