#59 - π The polling station tinder

Hello,
Have you noticed? I'm finally on time this week. And yes, I will try to regain my legendary punctuality.
This week I had to make choices because there were just too many cool things to tell you. But you'll see there's plenty to offer you your weekly fix.
On the program this week:
- π³ Elyze: the copy of Tinder that helps you vote
- π€ Who are the Youtubers who are feeling the most in 2021?
- π How high will Netflix prices go?
π³ Elyze: the disturbing app that tells you who to vote for
Have you heard of Elize? This application launched by 2 students is the tinder of the presidential elections a hit and has even managed to rank as one of the most downloaded apps on the stores.
The principle is as simple as it is brilliant: You see dozens of proposals scroll by and for each one you have to swipe to say if you tend to agree π, tend to disagree π or you hesitate π€.
It's about real proposals from the candidates (official or almost) with a short explanation each time.
After 50 swipes you can see a trend being defined via a podium. The application tells you which candidates you share the most proposals with. You can even see for each candidate, the proposals that you liked.
No, frankly, it's not stupid and quite well done...
...except that since its launch, with its ultra-sensitive subject, it has accumulated criticism.
Some are a matter of intention while others are more worrying. As you are not on a political newsletter I would focus on the 2 technical problems raised by Elize:
- A developer named Mathis Hammel doing reverse engineering managed to modify the content of the app⦠not very reassuring. He suggests opening the source code for greater transparency.
- As rightly pointed out François Malaussena, without being paranoid, we can wonder about the fact that people via an app manage to have a huge (non-nominative) database of French political preferences without necessarily being monitored by the CNIL.

This campaign is going to be long, β¦
π€Who are the Youtubers who are most affected in 2021?
One of the particularities of Forbes magazine is the ranking of fortunes. And as money from social networks is an area that fascinates as much as it scandalizes, you can imagine that it existed a ranking of the Youtubers who earned the most last year.
The top 10 peaks at $300 million and this includes all of their sources of income (not just Youtube money therefore).

It's not new of course but every year I like to take a look at this ranking and this year I wanted to share it with you.
This year we find without too many surprises Mr Beast including I spoke to you a few weeks ago (read π: When the king of Youtube becomes Squid Game). The king of Youtube with his ever more excessive videos has the means to achieve his ambitions with more than 50 million in revenue in 2021. Note: half of this sum does not come from Youtube but from the burger chain that he set up.
The importance of diversifying your sources of income π.
In the top 10 we also find the 2 Paul brothers (Logan and Jack) in different styles but still just as naughty.
We will not be surprised that 100% of these Youtubers publish in English but on the other hand a little disappointed that Nastya, the only woman in the ranking is...7 years old and manages a toy chain.

π How high will Netflix prices go?
Netflix has just announced a new increase in its prices. Do you have a feeling of dΓ©jΓ vu? This is normal, this is the 6th price increase since 2014 and it quite simply represents a 100% increase.
As with previous increases, the increase is slight (between $1 and $2 depending on the plans) and even if it is only official in the US, have no illusions about the fact that you will go through it.
In 2014, the standard plan was $7.99 vs. $15.49 with the next increase. So we're 100% sure.
It hurts...π€
Even more so since it's likely that Netflix is ββno longer the only SVOD service you pay for. And all these increases are starting to weigh on you.
And at the same time what would you do instead of Netflix?

The pioneer's health is excellent and the arrival of Disney and Apple TV+ does not seem to have impacted his growth at all.
A year ago, I welcomed the move to 200 million subscribers and we are currently at more than 220 million.
The only question I ask myself (and I would like your opinion in the comments) is: How much do we consider Netflix to be too expensive ?
I'm a sucker but I think that up to 25 or even 30β¬ I would continue to pay. In fact, more than the price, itβs the quality of the programs that holds me captive.
And what is your limit? Donβt hesitate to tell me in the comments π
