Discovery of Microsoft Copilot: Simple and free Artificial Intelligence

I've been talking to you about ChatGPT for several months now and yet at the same time an alternative that's almost as good and free has developed at an incredible speed.

The craziest thing in all of this? It is pushed by Microsoft, one of the main investors in OpenAI, which was able to capitalize on this collaboration to strengthen Bing with this same generative AI technology. This month, the Redmond giant took a new step by transforming Bing Chat into Microsoft Copilot, a more intuitive and complete platform, accessible via a new dedicated site.

The term Copilot appeared in March 2023 when Microsoft announced the integration of ChatGPT into its office suite but since then we have seen a festival of announcements around this famous Copilot.

It began to appear as a Bing tab (which no one does not use), then found a place in Edge (which a few more of us use) then finally in Windows 11 and even soon via a dedicated key in your keyboard.

🌟 Microsoft Copilot: Much More than a Chatbot

With Copilot, Microsoft offers an enriched experience. In addition to functioning as a traditional search engine, Bing now powers Copilot, a full-fledged digital assistant. The latter allows you to interact with AI in a more natural and intuitive way, offering functionalities such as text generation, content summary, and even image creation using AI.

What to remember:

  • Easy Access: To use Copilot, go to the dedicated site. You don't even need a Microsoft account (although it's a plus)

  • Extended Compatibility: Available for Windows and macOS, it works on Edge and Chrome browsers, providing a smooth experience and integrated and now also as an app iOS and Android
  • Intuitive Interface:Copilot's interface is designed to be user-friendly, with a text box for asking questions, a button for adding images, and even the ability to dictate your questions using an integrated microphone.

Microsoft Copilot stands out not only for its ease of use but also for the richness of its features. This is the only way to use GPT-4 for free, the latest generation of OpenAI's language model, offering more precise and detailed responses.

Integrated plugins and image generation

One of the strengths of ChatGPT in its paid version is the possibility of adding plugins to extend its possibilities.

Even if the offer is less important, Copilot also allows you to integrate plugins into your search like here Kayak.com

Copilot also allows you to generate images using DALL-E, the tool offered by OpenAI.

Free forever?

When we look at everything that Copilot offers we can ask ourselves if there is an interest in paying for ChatGPT Plus and my answer is clear: for most people (probably you) no!

ChatGPT Plus continues to have some specific features which can justify its price of $20 but that will be a subject for another newsletter.

On the other hand since we are talking about money, this is the perfect opportunity to point out that Microsoft has released a paid version called Copilot Pro at €22/month comes in addition to a Microsoft account 365.

Here is a comparison of the 2 services but the huge advantage of this pro version is that it integrates AI into the suite Microsoft office software

Should we prefer Copilot to ChatGPT?

In summary, Microsoft Copilot represents a major evolution in the way we interact with technology. From its shy appearance in Bing, to its omnipresent presence in Edge, Windows 11, and now as a mobile application, Copilot has stood out as a true daily digital companion. Its ease of access, broad compatibility, and intuitive interface make it a valuable tool for both beginners and advanced users.

The wealth of its features, including the ability to use GPT-4 for free, integrated plugins, and image generation via DALL-E, positions Microsoft Copilot as a serious competitor to ChatGPT Plus, especially for those looking for a robust solution at no additional cost. The launch of Copilot Pro, with its integration into Microsoft's office suite, opens new perspectives for professionals, underscoring Microsoft's commitment to integrating AI seamlessly and intuitively into our daily lives.

In conclusion, Microsoft Copilot is not only an impressive tool for its technology; it reflects a vision where artificial intelligence becomes a daily, accessible and powerful partner, capable of transforming the way we work, create and explore the digital world.
